It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that PCAHA has to share the passing of Leanne Smith, a much loved and respected member of our minor hockey community and our friend. Leanne was not just a volunteer, but a compassionate crusader who dedicated countless hours to the development, growth, and well-being of all the players and minor hockey as a whole.
Through her unwavering support, leadership, and positive influence, Leanne touched the lives of so many, both on and off the ice. Her commitment to fostering a sense of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun for the young athletes will be remembered. We can all hear Leanne saying “don’t forget this is for the kids”.
We extend our sincerest condolences to Leanne’s family, especially her son Jamie and his partner Hertha, and her countless friends during this incredibly difficult time. The void left by Leanne’s passing will be felt deeply by everyone who had the privilege of meeting or knowing her. While her presence within minor hockey will be missed, her legacy will continue to inspire and guide our community. We will all strive to be better people and advocates because of Leanne.
Thank you Leanne for being part of the hockey community, PCAHA and our family. You can rest easy – we will carry on your work for you. You will forever remain in our hearts and we just know you are running a game up there for all.
