The Pacific Coast Elite Hockey League U13 (PCEHL U13) is excited to announce that registration for the 2026-27 evaluations is now open!
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I register?
CLICK HERE to register for all Hubs except for Burnaby Winter Club and North Shore Winter Club.
You will be required to select one Hub team within the registration form, based on your permanent place of residence per PCAHA residency rules. PCAHA will verify the address used in the registration with the most recent registered address for every player.
Registrations will close 72 hours prior to the first ice time for each Hub.
For questions regarding Burnaby Winter Club evaluations, please contact Mark Santorelli at mark.santorelli@bwchockey.com
For questions regarding North Shore Winter Club evaluations, please contact Ben Maxwell at bmaxwell@nswc.ca
What is the cost to attend the evaluations?
The cost is $375 per participant. This fee covers ice rentals, evaluators, officials, coaches, software, supplies, on-site support staff and PCAHA contractor support. It is comparable to evaluation fees in OMAHA and VIAHA, and lower than most BC Hockey Program of Excellence and BCEHL spring camps, where ice costs are typically higher.
When will the coaches be announced?
The program is targeting mid to late April to have Head Coaches announced for all Hub teams.
What MHAs are assigned to each Hub?
MHAs were grouped based on criteria such as overall athlete pool to draw from; geographical neighbours; and previous affiliations at older age divisions.
Hub 1: Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Hope
Hub 2: Aldergrove, Cloverdale, Langley
Hub 3: Arbutus Club, Burnaby Minor, Van Minor, Vancouver TBirds
Hub 4: Coquitlam, New Westminster, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody
Hub 5: Hollyburn, North Vancouver, Squamish, Sunshine Coast, West Vancouver, Whistler
Hub 6: North Delta, Richmond, South Delta
Hub 7: Mission, Ridge Meadows
Hub 8: Semiahmoo, Surrey
Hub 9: North Shore Winter Club
Hub 10: Burnaby Winter Club
When will PCEHL U13 evaluations take place?
As Hubs finalize their ice times, dates will be indicated on this page. More information providing exact times and ice times assigned to each player will be provided directly from the Hub team organizing committee but this chart will allow you to begin to plan accordingly.
Can my child try out in more than one Hub?
No. Players may only try out for the Hub associated with their minor hockey association, in accordance with PCAHA residency rules.
Can my child try out in one Hub, and if they don’t make the team, register with another MHA that is part of a different Hub?
No. If your child has two residences, they must choose one MHA to be affiliated with for the 2026-27 season in its entirety. This begins with the Hub team evaluation process and would continue through to season registration if your child does not join the Hub team.
How many ice times are guaranteed for the evaluation process?
Each player will be scheduled for a minimum of three (3) evaluation ice sessions, with two exceptions. First, if a Hub’s registration exceeds 60 skaters and 8 goaltenders (ie four evaluation teams), early releases may be necessary to manage capacity. Second, if a player’s skill level presents safety concerns or significantly impacts the flow of play, they may be released following their initial session. In both cases, released players will receive a 75% refund of their evaluation fee.
What is the format of the evaluations?
Evaluations will include both skills sessions and scrimmages. All players will participate in an initial skills session, followed by at least two scrimmages per team. Player releases may occur after the second scrimmage to allow remaining players to participate in one final internal scrimmage. Hubs may participate in an additional exhibition game should schedules and finances allow for it.
Do I have to participate in the PCEHL U13 evaluations to participate in the PCEHL for the 2026-27 season?
Yes. All players must complete the evaluation process to be considered for a PCEHL U13 Hub team. Evaluations are the primary opportunity for selection.
What if I cannot attend my Hub’s PCEHL U13 evaluations?
Players are expected to attend all sessions. If unable to attend, an Evaluation Exemption Form must be submitted at least 72 hours before the first session, outlining the reason. Injuries require a medical note and the same timelines (or within 24 hours for new injuries). Failure to submit may impact eligibility. Missing all sessions makes a player ineligible for initial roster selection.
Is a player who played in a non-sanctioned league in 2025-26 eligible to participate?
Yes. The program is open to all players in the age division regardless of where they played last season. Players must participate in the evaluations that would be their assigned minor hockey association based on their residency. Proof of residency will be required.
There will be an additional fee of $66.42 to cover the Hockey Canada insurance invoiced after registration to any player who was not part of a minor hockey association this season. This fee is mandatory and must be paid prior to the first ice time to be permitted on the ice.
What is the PCEHL U13 evaluations refund policy?
The following refund policy applies to evaluation cancellations:
- 50% refund up until 15 days prior to the first session of the Hub specific evaluations they are registered to attend.
- No refund if cancelled 14 days or less prior to the first session of the Hub specific evaluations they are registered to attend.
- If the Hub requires an initial goalie and/or skater evaluation to fit within the camp capacity, any goalie and/or skater released after the first session will be refunded 75% of the Camp fee.
- If a player sustains an injury in the course of the evaluations, no refund will be offered unless the injury would create a return to play date beyond December 31. Players will be evaluated based on the time spent at the evaluations and would remain a potential invite to the 15+2 roster selection.
How many players will make the team?
Each team will target a minimum of 15 skaters and 2 goalies, with rosters up to a maximum of 20 players.
When will team rosters be finalized?
Initial rosters (15 skaters and 2 goalies) will be named by June 30. Additional players may be added until August 31 if needed. Teams may add players up to the maximum roster size until August 31 to account for residency changes or significant injuries. Players who participate in the spring evaluations and are not selected for the initial roster may only be considered after that date if a rostered player self-releases or has a documented injury with a confirmed return-to-play date beyond December 31.
Can evaluation decisions be appealed?
No. All Hub evaluation decisions are final and not subject to appeal.
If I register my child for the PCEHL evaluations, are they automatically registered for our home association if they are not selected?
No. Registration for evaluations is separate. You must register with your home MHA separately to secure a spot. Please ensure you are following all timelines for registration with your MHA.
If my child does not make a PCEHL U13 team, will the registration fee we pay for these evaluations be transferred to our home MHA?
No. The evaluation fee covers only the cost of running the PCEHL U13 evaluation process and is not transferable.
